It was a fun and crazy day for preschool today! The kids were all so excited for our Valentines Party and they definitely brought enough energy and excitement to make it last all day! :) They get so excited to be all together, they are such great friends!
I made these little envelopes for the back of their chairs. They were excited to have their own name on them, and couldn't wait to open them!
After a quick welcome to preschool we went straight to work on our Valentine surprises for the moms. I cut out each of their silhouettes from contact paper and put the sticker on 5x7 poster paper. I then let them paint whatever design and color they wanted all around the paper. After they dried (which took way longer than I was expecting) we peeled off the sticker, which revealed a beautiful silhouette of each child. I thought this was a great gift for the moms, and the perfect transition to our lesson on Thursday about being unique.
Here are their finished works of art. Since they took so long to dry I took them on a "secret mission" after all the Valentines festivities to put them in a frame and prepare them for the moms. Unfortunately I had bought some cute things to wrap them up, but the kids were done and they were ready to be set free. They all did such an awesome job with their pictures and they were all so different!
(I love Isabella's face! It took a lot of coaxing to get the picture...I agree it's much more fun to look at jewelry!)
Next we played a little sorting and counting game with candy hearts. I gave the kids a cup with conversation hearts and they had to count how many of each color they had and then write the number. A lot of them did great with writing their numbers and they all did a great job sorting their colors and counting! I told them that they could eat one after they were all finished.
Next we went on a search to find all the broken heart pieces that I had hidden throughout the house. Once they found them they all took turns matching up the patterns to make a larger number.
What a cute group!
I also had a sheet with hearts numbered from 1-21. I had them put gold fish on each number and each time I called out a number they got to eat the goldfish on that number.
When I asked them to say smile they said, "Hooray for Valentines Day!"
Next we had a simple heart lunch.
After lunch it was game time!
We made a love web and as they passed the yarn said something they loved about that person. It is always fun to hear what answers they come up with because they do really love each other!
We also played cupids arrows. I gave them each a straw which we loaded with a q-tip, and they had to blow the "arrow" and try to make it into the bowl. I think they really liked it and I was surprised at how well they did with it...they all had a great aim!
The final game was a "relay race". The kids stuck a pillow between their legs and tried to run it to the other group without dropping it. Eventually they were pretending to be baby penguins waddling.

What a fabulous party!! I laugh everytime I see that picture Isabella! Hahaha! And oh my! Isn't Henry popular with the ladies. ;) They are all so adorable. Thank you for such a great party Miss Whitney. :)
